Welcoming Ruth Ellen!

Ruth Ellen Chancellor
Born July 31, 2013
11:20 AM

6 lbs. 8 oz.
18.5 in.

First Picture, while being weighed and measured.

God blessed us with a safe and easy delivery. Our fervent prayer throughout the last month has been that ReC would be able to stay with us after delivery (more on that in the birth story - coming later, I hope!), and He completely answered prayer. We got to hold and snuggle her right away, and room in with her just like we wanted.

Ruth Ellen came to us pink, and soft, and squishy, and healthy, and completely, totally wide awake. She has been a very alert baby, and every nurse who came to take care of her commented on it. I guess she felt she had to continue her trend from pre-birth, where she was constantly moving, even through my labor.

Frog legs! She's an all or nothing sort of girl - she's either very alert, or completely, floppily asleep.
My labor was just long enough for Gramma to get there, and of course Nana and Pa-pa were there. Later Kari brought Cadence and James to see us. They are so excited about their new baby!

Cadence has been holding the baby over and over again, just so pleased to have her own baby sister finally here.

ReC has been such a sweet, laid back baby. She pretty much never cries, nurses like a pro, likes to be talked to, and falls asleep without a fight when she's tired. She also holds her head up to look around, and scoots across pillows with her rear in the air. We may officially be doomed.

Our family now :)

J is so happy to have a baby of his own. He's been on a baby kick recently, so to able to hold a baby, and touch a baby, and snuggle, and take care of a baby, has been so fun for him.

ReC is 2 ounces heavier than Cadence was, but is our shortest baby by far - a whole 1.5 inches. When the doctor put her on my chest the first time she seemed so tiny. She doesn't seem quite so tiny all dressed and sprawled out!

Mama and ReC - Bliss :)

In her bassinet.
Her little bit of hair - light brown instead of almost black like the others. Although, theirs fell out and came back in blonde, so we'll see!
Her hearing test - I think she looks pretty silly, but she passed on the first try - no water logged ears like the other two :)

She was not impressed with getting all fancied up to go home.

Snuggle time with Daddy :)
